Allan was attentive to all of my mother’s needs. She never once cried in pain because he anticipated her pain and allowed her to choose when to get pain meds.
Allan is a phenomenal nurse. He displays all of the characters you would hope to see in a nurse. His care today exemplified the words caring, attentiveness, empathy, efficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to educate. I never once felt I needed to look for him or ring the bell. When he came into the room in the morning, I asked several questions from labs, plan of care, and meds given over the night. He promptly provided me with answers to all of my questions. He was attentive to my concerns and provided details throughout the day. He got my mom out of bed and up in a chair for the first time since she arrived. Think about it, she is an 86 y/o woman with six broken ribs, two pelvic fractures, and a chest tube. Allan and his care tech were amazing. She really didn’t want to do it, but she did because of his gentle education. She was so happy once she was up in the chair. They did an excellent job. I was so nervous that she would fall, that she would not be strong enough, but I was wrong. Allan was attentive to all of my mother’s needs. She never once cried in pain because he anticipated her pain and allowed her to choose when to get pain meds. He checked with her and we never once had to ask for pain medication. My mother had to receive blood today as well and he was on top of it. All tasks he did for my mom he explained what he was doing, and check on her throughout the transfusion. When it was complete, he promptly returned. We never felt we were waiting for help of any kind. We felt as if my mom was his only patient and we certainly know she was not. My mom was blessed to have him as her nurse today.
