Allen Bordman, RN
We so much appreciate her as my mother's nurse. An excellent nurse and highly recommended for the DAISY Award.
My mother was transferred from the ED to 2 Medical. Allen Boardman was my mom's nurse. We, my sisters and I, immediately saw the difference in her care and concern not only for my mom but also for us as a family.
She made her bedside table and placed all the necessary things that my mom needed. First nurse who put together the suction equipment that my mother needed. First nurse who cleaned her mouth gently and thoroughly. She updated Dr. P with her assessment and plan of care. She made sure that she was repositioned and turned because of her stage 4 pressure ulcer. She's always smiling and ready to help, updating us with my mother's status.
Above all, she knows my mom's medical history and plans her care. From there, she puts extra effort and care, follow-up, and prompt administration of the doctor's orders. Giving thorough shift reports, Allen is an asset to the nursing team of GAMC.
She didn't leave my mom alone when her heart rate went up (even my mom is DNR) she cares - she made sure she is there in every events that is happening to my mother and to what may happen and updated us thoroughly.
Again, an excellent nurse that is sadly few nowadays. She works with heart, mind, and body, and is very passionate about her career.
Allen has gone above and beyond to make me feel safe and supported. She is a great listener and pays close attention to the patient's true needs. Then she goes out of her way to make sure the patient's needs are all met while still following the doctor's orders. She is proactive and knowledgeable. You can tell she truly cares, and she knows what she's doing. She's a fantastic professional!
