Allen Loftin, RN
Recently, Allen was part of a team that was split between ABI-MW and CRU due to construction needs. He seamlessly integrated into the CRU nursing environment and cared for patients without missing a beat!
He has a plethora of skills and knowledge, and I have seen him helping other nurses, PCTs, and therapists multiple times. He never complains about stepping in to help others and always appears ready to lend a hand.
Additionally, he goes about his day with an incredible sense of humor and compassion. He intuitively knows when families need a hug and when they need a laugh. He is there to celebrate patients' accomplishments and to provide comfort on hard days.
Allen really knows his patients and is often the first to notice when something is "off," and he does not hesitate to communicate this to the medical and/or therapy team so that everyone is on the same page and can provide the best care.
This fall, we had a patient who was very restless, had a lot of nursing needs, and a lot of anxiety regarding their situation. Allen would check in frequently to make sure she was okay but also spent extra time providing comfort and education to her.
I could always tell when Allen had been in the room because everyone was calmer and more confident that their needs were being met.
