I have never in my entire 20 years of being a Kaiser member been attended to as quickly and efficiently as I was today by Nurse Chen. After getting as prepared as we thought we could be for discharge, we hit roadblocks. We tried to stagger last doses of meds prior to my PICC line being removed, yet 5 hours later, a huge mix up with pharmacy set us behind. I was nervous and agitated and all the staff was changing. Nurse Chen could tell something was wrong. My fiancé talked to him because I was almost in tears. He called the doctor on call to see if he could give me my final medication so I could make my 3.5-hour journey home. Even though Nurse Chen was more than extremely busy with his own patients and wasn't my nurse at the time, he took it upon himself to assist me and calm me down by giving me immediate resolutions. Within 15 minutes (actually less) he had pharmacy adjust my meds to what they were supposed to be and gave me my meds for the trip home!
