She made my entire birth experience wonderful.
I would like to nominate the nurse who cared for me during the recent birth of my son. From the very beginning of my hospital stay, she went above and beyond to make sure my experience was as comfortable and positive as possible. I was scheduled for an induction with my second baby and feeling quite nervous -- something she quickly picked up on. She remained calm, patient, and explained each step of the process clearly. She even took the time to set up a cozy environment for both my husband and me, helping us feel more at ease.
When it came time to place my IV, she encountered some difficulty. Rather than continuing and causing more discomfort, she offered to bring in a colleague to ensure it was done as gently as possible. As we began the Pitocin, she was very thoughtful about starting it slowly, with my comfort in mind. Throughout the process, she checked on me every 20-30 minutes to make sure I was doing well. She was present for every key moment of my labor, including when my doctor came in to break my water. Her support and guidance were invaluable, especially when it came time for my epidural, which was more painful than during my previous delivery. She stayed by my side, coached me through breathing, and helped keep me calm.
After my son was born, she went the extra mile in so many ways. We had brought a picture frame to capture his hand and footprints, and she took multiple rounds of prints to ensure we had the very best keepsake. She even copied the hospital's original prints for us because she felt those were the best she had done. Since I delivered in the middle of the night and hadn't eaten in several hours, she offered to get me some food -- she even toasted the bread for my sandwich! When it came time for me to move to the mother-baby unit, she helped me clean the orange coloring from my back from the epidural and assisted me in getting dressed. She truly saw the entire experience through for us. To top it all off, she came to check on us again the next day in the mother-baby unit, making sure we were doing well. She made my entire birth experience wonderful. She is a phenomenal nurse, and anyone would be incredibly lucky to have her for their labor and delivery care. I sincerely believe she deserves recognition for the incredible compassion and care she provides.
