I went in for an induction that did not go as planned and I don't think the outcome would have been nearly as good without Allie there.
Allie was my labor and delivery nurse and went absolutely above and beyond to make sure me and my baby were safe. I went in for an induction that did not go as planned and I don't think the outcome would have been nearly as good without Allie there. My baby was not responding well to me being in labor and Allie was in my room about every 20-30 minutes trying to get my baby to perk up on the monitor. She tried every way she possibly could to make my baby look happier and also stayed in perfect contact with my OB at the same time so they could manage my care together.
Allie also somehow managed to keep me and my husband in the loop and walk us through every step of what was happening. When it was eventually called that I would need a c-section, Allie made me feel comfortable and confident about the decision. As we went back to the OR, Allie made sure both I and my husband knew what was happening every step of the way.
My c-section experience was not what I expected, I was sick the whole time and I struggled through most of the procedure and post-op period. I wasn't able to hold my baby right away which was so tough on me emotionally. Even though it was not the birth experience I planned for, Allie made me feel like the best mom in the world. Even though I wasn't able to hold my baby yet, she made sure that I could see her and have her close to me as they were finishing up in the OR.
In post-op, she took care of me as a patient and a new mom and managed both perfectly. She empowered me and made me feel confident that I did the right thing for my child. As it would turn out, Allie's close monitoring and care saved my baby's life that day. During the c-section, it was discovered that my baby had a true knot in her umbilical cord. Without Allie taking such good care of me and paying such close attention, I can't say the outcome would have been the exact same. I will forever be grateful that Allie was my nurse that day and was able to make sure my entire family received the best care possible.
