Allie Schumacher, RN, BSN

Coming to deliver your first child is a feeling you can’t explain. Not only that, but to have a “birth plan” you spent hours and hours forming, just to have no choice other than to have a C-section after over 24 hours of labor was a very hopeless feeling.

To be faced with that was very difficult and scary. After being told I had to get the cesarean, I truly just had to let go and trust God. Nothing mattered more to me in that moment than the people and support around me. I truly couldn’t have made it without Allie. Already having anxiety throughout my entire labor, I found so much comfort being in her care.

 She was not only very understanding and thorough, but she also went above and beyond to try to make me feel comforted in that moment. She offered to pray with my parents and husband around me just minutes before being taken back to prep for surgery. It is the small gestures that feel huge in a stressful situation that really left the greatest impact on my husband and me.

We will forever be so grateful for having Allie along with us while bringing our precious son into this world.
