Allison stayed with me when I cried, knowing I was scared in the beginning. She was always there watching over me and my needs.
Allison is a prime example of what a nurse should be. I came to Wellstar Douglas Hospital and was admitted. I have already been here 20 days. I gave the doctor instructions – no intubation, no ventilator, no CPR. I knew how sick I was, and the Dr. said, “But, Ms. F, you beat cancer.” I said, “No, No, No.” He wanted to talk to my daughter, and she said, “It is what my mom wants.” I had no fear, just faith. I felt very alone here. My oxygen was on high concentration at 100% and I felt like I was dying alone. Well, this nurse went above me on the high road to show me love and kindness. She stayed with me when I cried, knowing I was scared in the beginning. She was always there watching over me and my needs. She was not afraid to show her care and love. COVID is the hardest thing, it was harder than having my bladder removed. But, because of this nurse, who didn’t just do a job, I will see my grandbabies again. I had an angel in my corner. She took the time to know me. I was not just another number or a statistic of COVID. This nurse did some special things far beyond the norms to make me feel loved.
