I truly wish that I could nominate the entire 4 West nursing staff for the Daisy Award because each and every nursing staff member I have come in catch with has helped me towards my road to recovery. I have recently been diagnosed with transverse myelitis and above all, Allison just "being" there has made such a difference.
Allison was with me in the very early stages of my diagnosis and her encouraging words made each new news a little more tolerable. She is very personable and when I had my moments of weakness, frustration and even anger, her taking time out of her busy day to listen, empathize and wipe my tears away meant more to me than words could ever describe.
As a teacher, I am fully aware how the littlest gesture towards a child can make all the difference in the world…and whether she realizes it or not, Allison's kindness, generosity and even friendship has truly impacted my family and me. No award could ever fully justify the gratitude I have for my new found friend, but I certainly hope she receives recognition for being an amazing woman, friend and above all…my Nurse.
