Allison Grandgenett exemplifies the kind of faculty member that students, colleagues, staff and administrators recognize as an exemplary educator and an outstanding role model. 
Allison truly demonstrates what it means to be a loving and caring nurse educator. Not only does she care but she sets the example of compassion for her students. I had an issue recently and Allison took the time to give me encouragement and share her story of struggle. She did not limit that to one time, but she continues to this day to make sure I am doing ok and coping with the troubles I have had. Nowhere in my professional career of 14 years in the Air Force and 3 years at Methodist hospital have I ever seen someone give so much. 
Allison not only takes the time to teach her students how to be better and more compassionate people through example, but she also takes extra time to educate healthcare providers proficiencies. The time I spent in class with her was some of the most rewarding in my two years in the program. From learning material from the books to learning about practical experiences on the floor, Allison was hands down phenomenal. 
I can never truly begin to thank Allison for all she has given me. I have learned how to be a stronger and more empathetic man and have been better able to support my wife and partner as I transition through school at 36 years of age. She gives all her students equal time and is constantly available in her office should the need arise.
