Allie demonstrated nursing excellence when assisting a Veteran in a mental health crisis. A Veteran presented to the ER with Milwaukee police officers at shift change. The patient was combative, agitated, and confused. Allie was the only staff member who was able to connect with the Vet. Allie stayed 2 hours late until the patient was admitted. She was respectful throughout her care, was able to de-escalate a hostile individual, and avoided restraints and/or sedation.
