Pediatrics had a jaundice baby that ended up on oxygen. Multiple labs and an IV were ordered. Allison came to help with labs, started an IV, and offered to stay to help with the urine cath. We thanked her and she went back to her unit. We then called to ask for a PALs nurse to come to break for an RN who needed to pump. Allison volunteered to come to relieve that RN. (We were understaffed and wouldn't get breaks, which means our RN would not have pumped for the full 12-hour shift.) Not only did Allison assist with a patient whose parent was relieved the labs were accomplished, but she also made sure our staff was taken care of as well. Thank you, Allison.
