Our staff trusts Allison to act on our behalf when meeting with upper management.
Allison has worked tirelessly to educate and encourage staff regarding labor positioning to decrease our protracted labor c/s rate. She portrays enthusiasm as the staff try different positions with success and shares her vision for a lower protracted labor c/s rate with providers as well to provide a positive change among all people caring for our patients. She has written for grants and presented at meetings to gain funding to send the nurses to physiologic birth classes. Our staff trusts Allison to act on our behalf when meeting with upper management.
We feel that we are able to be open and honest with Allison about how the unit is run, the positives, and opportunities for improvement. She listens to the nurses to determine what will be the best way to move forward with changes or perhaps respecting an opinion but portraying the opposing side. She owns her wrongs and celebrates positivity for all staff. Allison is the nurse manager liaison for the NPD committee downtown and encourages others to attend "Day in the Life" events. She also is currently a co-writer for a poster presentation at the AWHONN national convention. Her team felt that they were able to explore different options for competency day which included an escape room for labor positions (Escape the womb). This was then written as an abstract for the AWHONN national convention and accepted. She encourages us each day to better ourselves and promotes LGH-WBH nurses positively amongst the community and even within our national organization!
