Allison would make coffee before she left because she knew I drank it first thing.
Our daughter was admitted to 10 QB. She was assigned to my daughter that evening and several evenings after. She managed a delicate situation with compassion and care. She consistently provided good communication to the parents, offered to help manage our daughter's fractured leg, which was new for us, and addressed any concerns/questions we had (bringing others in as needed). It's hard to describe the relationship between a nurse and a parent. Nurses are the front line of communication and we parents depend on them to provide most, if not all, necessities to survive while in the hospital. Having a nurse who is compassionate, communicative, effective, and dependable is a huge blessing to the parents who are dealing with so much.
Allison exemplified all these traits consistently over multiple days. She learned along with me how to move my daughter's leg (which was in a pillow splint), provided suggestions to prevent the splint from getting dirty during diaper changes, talked through my daughter's plan of care with me multiple times when I needed. All of this was in addition to my daughter's needs. Each morning, Allison would make coffee before she left because she knew I drank it first thing. She went above and beyond in addition to performing her duties with dependable precision. It was a relief to this mom each night she was assigned to our daughter and allowed me to get the rest I needed for another day.
Thank you to her and all the nurses like her. It makes these stressful hospital stays more tolerable.
