A cath lab patient and her granddaughter were at the front of the hospital and needed medical attention. One admission team called for help to our PreOp unit next door; Allison responded but was unaware of the situation she was about to get involved in. Immediately as she approached the vehicle where the patient was, she could see that a rapid response team's help was needed.
Unfortunately, due to the construction, the page was heard but not on the 1st floor where the patient was. Knowing how precious time is, Allison jumped into the patient's car and instructed the granddaughter to drive to our ED. Allison's quick thinking, in a critical moment, saved time and a life. I hope Allison is next to me in an emergency!
