My sister spent over a month admitted to UC Davis Medical Center on multiple units throughout the hospital. She was cared for by many great practitioners however out of all members on her care team one stood out. Allison Ryan or as we became to know her as Allie. Prior to her passing, my sister was admitted to the comfort care suite on East 8. Allie was caring, making my sister and visitors feel comfortable and supported during a bad situation. She showed empathy, understanding how my sister and all of us felt. Very detail-oriented and listened to her patient. Initially, my sister was able to voice when the medication was necessary but when she was no longer able to, Allie walked me through what to watch for and would keep a watchful eye for any signs herself. She constantly talked to my sister even when she could no longer respond, keeping her updated as well as the family showing her amazing communication skills. Overall, she was a hardworking, quick thinker with the physical and mental endurance of a hero.
It is staff members like Allie that make me proud to be an employee here. I will continue to share my sister's story and be an advocate for the amazing staff and health system.
