In my time working with Allison, she has consistently demonstrated a dedication to her team and the patients she cares for. Recently, her compassion became especially evident during a challenging situation with a patient who tragically passed away during a procedure. Allison was a support person to the entire code team, the nurses, and even the physicians. She quickly jumped in without hesitation. Most of the team members directly involved went home to process what had happened, but Allison stayed to care for the family and coordinate their needs to the very end.
As more family members arrived at the hospital, Allison had to deliver the difficult news to them, and she demonstrated exceptional care while doing so. The moment the family received the news, Allison stepped up in a way that exemplified her empathy and professionalism. She not only offered compassionate support to the grieving family members but also took extra time to address their questions and ensure they felt cared for, even having someone run to Starbucks to get a tea and sandwich she remembered the patient’s sister mentioned she liked before the procedure. She guided them through every step of the process, extending her presence beyond the scope of her nursing duties to provide comfort and reassurance during an incredibly difficult time. Her presence provided a sense of calm to them that was invaluable.
