Our son required ER attention after “celebrating” his first Saturday night as a 21-year-old! A combination of iced sidewalks and excessive celebrating resulted in a finger gash that required 8 stitches! We were awakened from our slumbers at our Georgia residence. Unable to make an immediate 5 hr trip out to what we assessed as a non-life-threatening situation, I resorted to staying on the phone as he received treatment. I was able to catch the nurse’s name as the doctor called out to her as our son apparently fainted at one point! Three hours later his roommates retrieved him from the ER and returned him home safely. At that, time (4 a.m.) I called back to the hospital asked if she was still on duty and thanked her for her wonderful care. She gave very specific instructions to our son for his follow-up care and got him safely in the car for his journey home. A 21st birthday not soon forgotten nor the oh so anticlimactic event called “becoming legal”. Thank you for taking care of our “child” and giving two parents peace of mind while 300 miles away!
