Our unit has been experiencing a dramatic increase in caring for COVID positive post partum mothers. This shift impacts the care we deliver. This special nurse was in charge on a particularly challenging night shift which I worked that we had several COVID positive mothers and babies (a couplet assignment). During this shift Allie seamlessly balanced her charge nurse responsibilities with assisting her coworkers. Her goal was clearly to provide the safest environment for both staff and patients through her efforts. Allie went above and beyond what is expected of a coworker and charge nurse and her work was vital to a safe and successful shift. Allie anticipated needs of staff and patients, intervened in unexpected stressful situations and advocated appropriately. I am so thankful Allie was our leader that night shift.
