Believing that all who enter our doors deserve the best treatment and care, whether we are assigned to their care, Allison Walker did just that when she gave out of the kindness of her own heart to a patient's family member.
The patient's loved one crossed paths with Allison in the hall who expressed to her that she was uncomfortable. The chair she was using didn't provide extra legroom as she waited long hours. Allison immediately went to look for a different chair to bring to the woman.
"Not only did Allison go the extra mile for me and brought me a new chair within two minutes, but she also offered to help our nurse that I had originally asked for help. It took Allison to communicate with me about the situation that made things better."
Even when the woman expressed to Allison that she didn't need to help her because she wasn't the nurse assigned to her loved one's care, Allison fulfilled her request anyway and informed her why her assigned nurse wasn't able to help.
"It's Allison's willingness to not only get what I needed that I appreciated, but the important part was her communication to let me know why things were taking so long."
