I was in a horrible car accident. Someone hit me, so the change in my life over the course of a second was as much to come to terms with as my physical injuries. A broken patella and sternum. Additionally, I had urinary problems and continually needed to be catheterized. I've spent a lot of time in hospitals recently with my aging parents, so I have been exposed to a lot of nursing care, and this is why Allyson stood out to me so much among all of my wonderful nurses here at Roanoke Memorial. I think her skill and confidence naturally allow her to put really stressed patients at ease.

Allyson was always one step ahead, never neglecting any level of my care. Allyson always being one step ahead of my care gave me great comfort and allowed me to focus on my recovery, both physically and psychologically. If I wanted to adjust my meds, she got it accomplished effortlessly. There were never any delays or excuses, which tells me Allyson knows her stuff, has her routine down, and has great working relationships across the hospital's teams.

When I did request any kind of assistance, Allyson was always 100% there for me. It was never, "I'll be there shortly." She made me feel as if I was her only patient, but I had Allyson three nights in a row, and I know the floor was very busy during much of that time. Although many of my nurses were outstanding, Allyson truly stood out on so many levels. She is truly a gifted medical care provider, and the patients at RMH are blessed to have her.

Thank you, Allyson, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
