July 2026 Honoree
Allyson Branch, RN
My husband Z was admitted to the ICU after having a cardiac arrest. He had an anoxic brain injury, so the prognosis was not good. Allie was our nurse during the two days he was in the hospital. Needless to say, I was a wreck during this time. Allie was super sweet and patient with me, and she took excellent care of my husband. After his EEG, his hair was super matted from the gel. I told her Zack would have hated his hair looking like that, and Allie offered to wash his hair. While this may seem small, it was a big deal for me, and he would have really appreciated that. On the day we had to remove the vent and let him go, I told Allie that I wanted to hold him until he passed. With the fact that my husband was a big guy and I was 7 months pregnant, it was impossible to get in bed with him. Allie brought me a reclining chair with a blanket and pillow set up so I could hold him. She went far above and beyond, and it made this horrible experience better. She has such a big heart and was very kind and caring. I will never forget her and her kindness.
Thank you, Allyson, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
