Allyson was nominated by a coworker.
I would like to nominate Allyson Huber because she exemplifies every quality represented by the DAISY Award. She is truly one of a kind and, without question, one of the hardest-working nurses I have ever known.
Although she serves as our Assistant Nurse Manager, she consistently steps onto the front lines in SDS, working side-by-side with staff. Allyson knows every area, pre-op and post-op alike, and continually puts the needs of our team before her own. She goes out of her way to support patients, staff, and family members, always ensuring the department is running smoothly and efficiently. Her knowledge is remarkable, her leadership is empowering, and her compassion is genuine. Allyson’s dedication to our patients and staff is unmistakable, and she strives every day to make SDS a better and more enjoyable place to work.
There are countless examples of Allyson going above and beyond, but I will share just two that clearly demonstrate her exceptional character.
Allyson drove to an employee’s home after learning that the employee had to call in for a 5:30 a.m. shift because her car would not start. Allyson attempted to jumpstart the vehicle but could not get it started. Later that day, Allyson even asked her husband to stop by and try to help as well. Ultimately, the employee needed a new battery, but Allyson’s actions that day ensured that the employee felt supported and cared for by her leadership, even when she was not on the clock.
The very next day, Allyson again went out of her way to check on another employee who had been experiencing personal difficulties. Many of us were growing concerned, and Allyson graciously offered to drive to her home to check on her well-being. This was not required of her. It was simply who she is, someone who genuinely cares.
