Allyson, your initiative as a nurse is next level. This year, I’ve had to stay overnight in the hospital multiple times; however, this time, I actually got eight hours of sleep because of you. During my overnight stay, you showed me an incredible amount of compassion and care.

You made sure to do my vitals and ask all the necessary questions in a contained, sequenced manner so that you wouldn’t have to wake me or come back repeatedly during the night. Each time you checked in, you brought me more heat packs for my excruciating pain, simply because you had overheard me tell another nurse that I used them at home. It made me feel so cared for. You even placed the heat packs where the pain was without being asked.

I really appreciated them, and your cheerful attitude balanced perfectly with your generous compassion. When you asked if the pain meds were working, you reassured me that if they didn’t, I wouldn’t have to wait eight hours for them to wear off; I just had to press the button, and you would come.

I fell asleep feeling completely cared for, and nothing beats a well-rested night’s sleep, which I had purely because you went a step ahead in your care for me.
