July 2025 Honoree
Allyson Palmer, RN
We found out my brother-in-law was not recovering like he should have been. While they had done everything possible, things were just getting worse. Allyson was caring for the patient when the family received devastating information. The patient’s wife and kids were visiting him that day, and Allyson offered to let them cuddle their husband and father. Allyson helped each child get into his bed and lie down with him. They felt his warmth for those few minutes. When I asked Allyson about it, she said, ‘I would want the chance to lie with the love of my life one more time, if I were in the same situation.’ The entire time Allyson worked with the patient, she took just as much care of the family. After her workday, my niece and I saw Allyson. She stopped to tell us how sorry she was for what the family was going through. She didn’t stop as a “nurse”, she stopped as a compassionate person who knew our pain. We were so fortunate to have Allyson care for our loved one and the entire family.
Thank you, Allyson, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
