She led the ICU during one of the most difficult times in healthcare, the COVID pandemic.
Allyson started her career at DMH October 10th 1988 in the ICU. She started on night shift and worked her way to day shift and eventually became a full time Charge Nurse, a position she still holds to this day.

Allyson has seen many changes in Healthcare over the span of her 35 years here at DMH. Although times have changed, her passion for excellent patient care has not changed. She is well respected by the medical staff as a seasoned critical care nurse. She has the respect of her teammates and is a mentor to the younger generation of RNs. She led the ICU during one of the most difficult times in healthcare, the COVID pandemic. ICU RNs have the highest number of burnout among our profession and this has led to a huge increase in turnover since the pandemic. While the ICU here at Decatur lost half of our RNs during the pandemic, Allyson was the one asking everyone “This is ICU, this is what we signed up for. Why run now?” Allyson's dedication to DMH and to the ICU is greatly appreciated by me and her co-workers.
