Allyssa Vruno went above and beyond for her patient, more than what is required for her job. Allyssa has spent time outside of work cooking food from the patient's culture to encourage him to eat when he didn't love the hospital's food. Allyssa has also brought in clothes for the patient, so he has not had to live in a hospital gown for almost six months. Allyssa has made a major, positive impact in this patient's life when she didn't have to do the 'extras.'
Being in the hospital is often the worst time of a patient's life. This patient especially had been in a terrible car accident, does not speak the language here, and has no family here. Allyssa has literally been the next thing to family for this patient. Allyssa deserves to have her care and compassion recognized. She is a passionate nurse and always goes above and beyond for her patients.
