Alma did not delegate my response to these inquires to her nurse tech, who was already busy helping others. She did it herself, again with compassion, kindness, and caring.
Alma Flores is one of the best nurses I have ever had. She demonstrates an uplifting, compassionate, encouraging, extremely caring, professional, dedicated, and heart for healing.
I arrived at the infusion center around 9 am. Alma introduced herself to me as my nurse. She asked how I was feeling. I told her about the bruising, blood in my urine, and my mouth sores. She and I were certain that I would need platelets and blood. After taking my blood sample, which I didn't even hardly feel the needle go in she was so precise with her stick and skills, she led me to a comfortable recliner where she asked if I needed a blanket and pillow. She covered me up oh so lovingly and caring. After finding out that I would need 1.5 bags + 1.0 bag of platelets and 2 (1.5 hours each) of blood, she said that I would be with her for a while. When she spoke to her nurse tech, she was very professional, respectful, and treated her like she was a valuable part of the team, stating "you could run circles around me", referring to her efficiency in work ethic. I could also tell she had a good working relationship with all her team members by observing their interaction from 9 am until almost 7 pm. Yes, 7 pm! She knew that she would have to stay late to take care of me, based on all the blood products that I needed. She NEVER, not once, showed frustration or fatigue in energy or attitude.
Throughout the day, she frequently asked me if I needed more or warmer blankets, or anything else to make me more comfortable. After everybody in the infusion center was gone, except for one other nurse, and I was done with my treatment, she walked me out to my car, after calling security to open the door that was closest to my car. STILL, after a long day, a longer day than usual for her, she consistently maintained a compassionate, caring, kind, and loving spirit. Alma definitely possesses "A Healer's Touch"! She made this very sick patient feel so much better by just the way that she took care of me from beginning to end.
