We were preparing for "kangaroo care" when the nurses heard that our premature twins would soon need to be admitted. It would have been far easier for Alysa to tell us to push off holding our baby, since babies being held often need more attention from their nurse. Alysa considered what would be best for us and our baby over her own convenience and allowed us to hold her. Even when another nurse challenged her decision, Alysa stood up for us.
