Alysha was extremely attentive and gave me helpful tips when I started to move around after my second surgery.
My 34-day journey at NAS JAX Naval Hospital was not planned. My husband took me to the emergency room expecting to bring me home that night or the next day but that. Two almost three surgeries later, I found myself in the hands of God's angels taking care of me around the clock; I would not have made it through this uncharted time in my life without them. These nurses and Corpsmen treated me with compassion, kindness, humility, care, dignity, and love. They treated me as their own family, and we had never met one another before. This gave my family great comfort during this difficult time. We have been blessed to have never experienced a hospitalization so you can imagine how scary this time was for us. The care that was given to me gave us great confidence that I was in the right hands at the right time. I understand that many of these characteristics mirror their job description, but they all went above and beyond.

Alysha never hesitated to explain what she was doing and why to me or my family. If she did not have the answer to a question we had, she would always find one and come back to inform us of what she found out. She was extremely attentive and gave me helpful tips when I started to move around after my second surgery. She set goals for me each day and encouraged me to do them. Alysha shared stories of her family, her career journey, and her health journey which provided hope and understanding to some of the things I was and would experience.
