Even when we had our slight emergencies, there was Alysia, calmly and deliberately making sure all beeps got back on track.
My mom was transferred from Porterville's Hospital in the worst condition we could ever imagine. It started out with only a dialysis fistula bleeding profusely, to finding out she was having a full-blown heart attack. We got transferred to KH, and within 15 minutes, Alysia was on it! She started out by actually reading the file, moving quickly, and understanding what to do. She was informative and knowledgeable. With that being said, that was nothing compared to the compassion and care she held throughout our two-week stay.

Considering this was the scariest time in not only our lives, but my mom's life. Alysia was able to explain everything in terms we understood. She took the time to answer all of our questions about any and everything. Alysia made the effort to be more than a nurse, but a social worker, friend, and caring human being. She helped us focus on the treatment at hand, and even when we got the worst of the worst news that the doctors were not able to do open heart surgery, she stayed and helped us understand all options.

Thankfully, my mom has a great cardiologist who was able to do more for her, but Alysia stayed with us! You could feel her strength and positivity that helped us get through this time. Even when we were not her patient, she checked on us. The organization and knowledge in her head are amazing! My mom made more than several comments on how "Alysia helped me get up," and “Alysia brought me...", "Alysia did for me...", never saw anything but a smile on this woman's face and it was one of the biggest comforts that we could get in the difficult time we were having. Even when we had our slight emergencies, there was Alysia, calmly and deliberately making sure all beeps got back on track.

At a time when your mind isn't working, I am glad that she never missed a beat. CVICU is a lucky, lucky place to have a nurse like her, while I hope to never see her again in the same capacity. I wish this lady the best because she is the best! There is so much more to say, but it would be redundant because the care she gives is more than anyone could ever ask for.
