Alyson is an expert in the field of surgical treatment for breast cancer. Alyson worked with a beloved surgeon for 10 years and was a vital member of that team. When this surgeon was diagnosed with cancer and passed away a short time later, Alyson continued to care for their patients despite her own grief. She sat with patients as they learned the news about their beloved doctor and helped all of them be placed with a new physician. Alyson then went on to work with another surgeon on the team. Almost every day a patient will tell me that they miss Alyson and their late surgeon.
Alyson is a mentor and role model for new oncology nurses. Alyson exemplifies the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses by always putting patients first and sharing in their journey.
