Alyssa was attentive and caring from the second we checked in at Labor & Delivery triage. She could see the discomfort I was in and immediately offered me different options to relieve my contractions pain, including coaching my husband through how to provide counter pressure to my hips and doing it herself when needed. Although we were discharged home, she assured me she would have all of our stuff prepared for us for our return soon. After a few hours of laboring at home, Alyssa was right, and we were right back to triage. She again greeted us with a big hello and helped us check into a delivery room. For the next 7 hours, Alyssa acted almost as my personal doula. She talked me through every option for pain relief, reassured me when I was feeling uncertain, and coached my breathing through every contraction. After my epidural, she repositioned me every 30 minutes in bed to keep my labor progressing naturally and provided her expertise to get the baby in the right position for delivery. She stayed well past the end of her shift to see my beautiful baby boy enter this world. I truly credit the wonderful and uncomplicated delivery of my son to Alyssa and the genuine care she showed me that night. There is no one else I could have wanted to share those intimate, private moments of childbirth with. Alyssa is making true differences in women’s lives, and all nurses should strive to show the genuine care she provides her patients. I am truly lucky and forever grateful to have had Alyssa by my side that night. Thank you again.
