I was very sick with Sepsis when I came to the Blodgett Hospital ED. Alyssa was my nurse from the afternoon until her shift ended at 7:00 pm. She greatly influenced my care. I got labs immediately, I got orders for blood cultures, my falling blood pressure was monitored closely, and IV fluids were increased until it was stable. Also, an antibiotic IV was started. I felt very safe with her. I am a clinical nurse specialist, so I knew what was going on. The ED physician wanted to send me home, but I resisted and was admitted. I was there for four days on 4H and was cared for by an excellent hospitalist. My nursing care was excellent.
