April 2025 Honoree
Alyssa Chandler, RN
I’m a Shelton State nursing student who got the honor to follow Alyssa around for two days of my clinical rotation. She not only taught me a lot about nursing clinical knowledge, but she also taught me how to handle the loss of patients. I had never experienced the loss or near loss of a patient in my 4 semesters of school until my rotation in the ICU.
It was the first time I had ever cried over a patient. Alyssa talked me through the process of what will happen when the time comes. She also gave great advice on how to deal with these inevitable, but harsh realities of nursing care. She was very supportive and understanding! She’s an amazing nurse and teacher.

Thank you, Alyssa, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
