I have worked on this unit for about 6 months now and right away I could tell this person was special. Her personality always brings a smile to your face. She is always willing to help and is a wonderful clinician on the unit. I just want to share one example of this nurse's dedication and compassion for her patients and their families.

This was a patient who was being discharged from the unit later during the evening hours after surgery. The patient and her ride home were concerned and anxious that they would not be able to find their way back to the highway in the dark to get home safely. This nurse arranged to have the patient leave at the end of her shift and had them follow her car to the highway and down Route 77 for 30 minutes to be sure that the patient and her family could find their way home safely. This truly exemplifies why people like this nurse become nurses and are an asset to the nursing profession.
