Thanks to Alyssa for giving the best handover of my required needs.
I would like to thank Alyssa from Accident and Emergency. I have severe Parkinson's Disease and developed COVID-19 with bacterial pneumonia. I was taken to hospital and placed in an isolation room in accident and emergency. It was awful; I could not see anyone. Alyssa came on the afternoon shift and was so kind to me and my wife. She made me feel safe. She asked questions about my deep brain stimulator and apomine pump. She realised that without this, I could not move and therefore breathe properly. At one stage, she asked my wife if she thought I would be safe in this room overnight. My wife said “no”. Alyssa advocated for me and had me moved to AMU, where I received the best care. Thanks to Alyssa for giving the best handover of my required needs.
Thank you, young lady, for your wonderful care and kindness. It is the little things at the start of the patients' journey that matter the most.
