Because of Alyssa, I was able to witness my youngest daughter's wedding despite my circumstances.
I am honored to nominate Alyssa for recognition for the extraordinary level of care, compassion, and dedication she demonstrated during my hospitalization at Memorial Hermann following a traumatic car accident in February 2026.
I was admitted to the Trauma ICU with a shattered leg and multiple broken ribs, facing not only significant physical pain but also emotional heartbreak. The week of my accident was supposed to be one of the most joyful times for my family — my youngest daughter’s wedding. Due to my injuries, I believed I would not be able to attend or be part of this once-in-a-lifetime moment.
From the moment Alyssa became my nurse, she was the most caring, empathetic, attentive, reassuring, and knowledgeable nurse I have ever experienced. She treated me with genuine kindness and respect, always taking the time to ensure I felt comfortable, informed, and supported during an incredibly difficult time.
What Alyssa did next went far beyond exceptional nursing care — it was an act of profound compassion that my family and I will never forget. Without my knowledge, she secretly coordinated with my daughters to arrange a private ceremony in the hospital chapel on the morning of the wedding so that I could be present. Because of Alyssa, I was able to witness my youngest daughter's wedding despite my circumstances.
This moment meant everything to me, my daughter, her fiancé, and our entire family. They shared that without Alyssa’s efforts, their wedding would not have felt complete. My children and immediate family were deeply moved and incredibly grateful for the empathy, thoughtfulness, and dedication she showed during such an emotional time.
