My mom has been in the ICU for 2 weeks. Alyssia has been her nurse Mondays and Tuesdays. With the pressures of mentoring a student nurse and having complex patients, Alyssia takes everything with finesse and precision. As someone who has been both a nurse and an educator, you do not get nurses or teachers like her often! I appreciate the way she helps the student. She casually quizzes and asks for explanations, so you know the student is going to be a nurse like her. Alyssia calls without a second thought when something happens, and I am not here. I love the open communication and the way she treats Mom like she would treat her own mom. Constantly asking if I am okay since things have turned for my mom. I do not know if I could ever thank her enough for making the ICU a second home for me during this rough time.
