In 2020, my wife was diagnosed with Thymoma. She has been receiving her treatment at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) for almost three years. She was recently hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to a severe illness that had left her weak and bedridden. In fact, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all nurses at this unit, particularly, a kind-hearted ICU nurse, named "Amal" for the extraordinary care she provided to my wife throughout her stay in the unit.

Amal is actually an outstanding nurse. Her care and compassion toward her patients were unparalleled. Every day, I witnessed Amal's unwavering commitment and unrelenting dedication to providing exceptional care to my wife and other patients in the ICU. Her gentle touch, pleasant smile, and encouraging words gave my wife hope and support during this challenging time. 

One day, as I sat by my wife's side, I noticed a photo frame on the bedside table. There were photos of my two children inside the frame. In fact, watching their smiling faces brought tears to my eyes as I yearned for my wife to recover and be reunited with our beloved children. So, I asked Amal, “Where did you get this lovely frame? It really means a lot to us", then, Amal smiled warmly and started to share the touching story behind it. During her day off, Amal would often stroll through the gift shop; she spotted the photo frame and instantly thought of my wife to brighten the ICU room. Knowing the importance of family and the healing power of love, she decided to buy it as a gift for her.

Amal revealed, "I saw the love in your wife's eyes whenever she spoke about her children, so I wanted her to be reminded of them, even when they couldn't be there physically, that is why I bought the frame for her. It's a simple gift, but I hoped it would bring her peace and comfort during her difficult times in the hospital."

"Amal's kindness and the photo frame she brought us will forever be etched in my heart,” my wife stated. "She cared for me physically while also nourishing my spirit with her care and compassion. I will always remember her as the nurse who went above and beyond." 

I thanked Amal for her consideration and care. I realized she wasn’t simply an exceptional nurse, but also a compassionate soul who appreciated the value of reuniting patients with their loved ones.

Days and weeks passed, and Amal’s loving care and sustained support uplifted my wife’s spirit. Through her expertise and unshakable devotion, Amal not only provided nursing care but also created a healing environment packed with love and compassion. She ensured that my wife would never feel alone or discouraged throughout her hospital stay.

Actually, no words can express how I feel about such an exceptional nurse. Amal's compassionate care remained a guiding light for us, reminding us of the extraordinary influence that a single nurse can have on a patient's life. May God bless you.
