Upon my wife's water breaking, our telephone call to triage was answered by Amanda, and my wife was able to remain calm and collected to get things in order and make our way to triage.  Upon arriving at triage my wife and I were treated kindly and had clear instructions of what was required to do next in a way that we knew we were with a very experienced midwife.

Although no contractions had started yet, we were still being treated in a way that we didn't feel silly or bad for asking questions that reassured us of our baby's delivery.  We went home knowing that we had to return if nothing was happening within 24 hours of the water breaking.  We returned the following evening, and we were put in a bay on the ward.  We were told about inducement from another midwife and what Amanda had told us was spot on.

Before the inducement gel was applied we had a familiar person, Amanda, pop her head around the curtain and offered to take care of the inducement for my wife.  She was very clear again with how things were likely to go, and Amanda was spot on again.  The contractions started, and my wife was delivering our baby girl 3.5 hours later.  When we were taken to the ward, Amanda appeared again to give support which was a welcoming sight to see a familiar face.  After my wife gave birth, Amanda came back to check on us and was so caring for my wife and our new baby girl. In a short period of time, Amanda made us feel relaxed in a stressful situation.

I am really not giving enough description of the care and attention Amanda showed my wife and I, clearly words cannot express enough of our appreciation and thanks that Amanda helped with. I wish all midwives were able to use their experience as well as Amanda uses hers.  We cannot thank Amanda enough for her role in the journey of our baby girl’s life. We are forever grateful and thankful.
