We see breast cancer patients in our office frequently. As part of their treatment, some patients get mastectomies. Financial and or insurance issues can prevent a patient from getting breast prosthetics. We recently had a patient that was in need of one. Amanda Baines told the patient about a company called knitted knockers that make special handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast, free of charge.
The patient didn't have access to the internet and wasn't proficient with the computer. While the patient was still in the office, Amanda filled out the info form for her so that she could receive a prosthesis. Amanda has also gone onto the knitted knockers website to request a sample kit for the office. The kit arrived today in the mail and has samples to give away and samples to show patients, so they can see it before requesting their knitted knocker.
