We had a medical clearance for 3 patients…adorable toddlers who had lost their mother. They came in via EMS and were assigned to a room together. The night was just starting and it was busy. I asked for a sitter since the girls were unattended. When I went to tell Amanda about the sitter she let me know that she was “fine for now.” She took the girls to be showered together and cleaned up. She got them clothes, she carried one of them around forever. She turned that room into a treatment room of sorts so the girls could have their labs drawn one at a time away from each other and from their room. She got them backpacks from house sup. She did everything. She was present and she was caring and she was in love with them and I watched her with complete admiration. She was just…perfect.
