Beautiful photographs were taken by Amanda of them together and with their parents; it was the one and only family photograph they would have.
Amanda has always gone above and beyond to make our patients' journeys memorable and special through her gift of photography. On her own time and expense, she coordinates and plans special photography sessions to celebrate holidays or special events for our patients and their families. Examples include dressing infants up as cupids on Valentine's Day or making special Christmas photos, all of which are beautifully framed and given as special keepsakes, celebrating their heart warrior scars. She is the photographer at our annual Camp Braveheart where she compiles hundreds of photos into a video for families and campers to enjoy and keep to remember happy and healthy times.
One of our heart babies lost his battle with congenital heart disease. He was a twin and his sister was in the NICU, recovering from multiple surgeries herself. When the end of his life was drawing near, Amanda had the idea to photograph the twins together again, one last time. The twin sister was brought down to the CICU and beautiful photographs were taken of them together and with their parents; it was the one and only family photograph they would have. One particularly moving photo was of their entwined feet, one in a blue sock and one in pink, probably very much how they spent their time in the womb together. Amanda's compassion and commitment to our heart patients surpass all expectations.
