August 2010 Honoree
amanda burns, RN
Amanda Burns, RN was nominated for the DAISY Award by a patient, a family member and a co-worker.
Patient: She does all the little things right. For example, another nurse told me all day I needed to have fluids, as soon as Amanda’s shift started; she made it easier by bringing me a pitcher of ice water. She also explained how to use the phone to get in touch with her if I needed help. In the first five minutes she helped me more than I had been helped all day. She is very hard working, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. She made a huge difference in my stay at the hospital and I truly appreciate it.
Family Member: I want to thank Amanda. My daughter was helped immensely when Amanda got a “Butterfly needle” to be used for her blood work. Her initial blood was taken in the ED. I told them she was dehydrated and was not easy to do even in the best of conditions. He had a difficult time, hurt her and needed to get someone else. Once she had Amanda, she had the blood taken without any problem. This made a huge difference in her stay at your hospital. Thank you for seeing what needed done, and getting it done.
Co-Worker: Amanda is an excellent nurse. She consistently goes above and beyond for her patients. She provides a positive and nurturing environment for her patients to thrive.
