Mandy works hard to effect progressive changes on the the overall practice of RNs, LVNs and MAs, and advance practice RNs, with the goal to have them safely practice at the top of their scopes, and reach their highest potential, and as a result, increasing their professional satisfaction and allowing clinics to increase its ability to see more patients.
Mandy is a true collaborator and a positive role model, dedicated to positively impact the lives of patients and/or family, staff, and the organization.
As an educator in both the clinic space and nursing programs, I realize the vital role a highly competent nurse, nurse educator, and nursing professional development practitioner plays in ensuring nurses and other clinical staff use evidence-based practice to deliver excellent patient care.

Mandy works only 70% FTE but she gives 200% of herself. She spearheaded the Care Coordination initiative, training RNs, LVNs and MAs, and worked hard in completing the 6-part Care Coordination and Transitions Management module as a requirement prior to clinical staff attending the Care Coordination class. Mandy also reaches out to all experts both within UCSF and outside our organization so she can get expert opinion of her work.
In addition to Care Coordination initiatives, she is heavily involved in MA Academy, especially in the improvement of its simulation activities. She leads the Ambulatory Clinical Orientation, and constantly improves the delivery of information that best reflects the feedback and needs of newly hired staff.
Her work in the COVID Vaccine initiative, including development of training materials and update of COVID Vaccine Administration Protocol allowed the clinics to safely administer COVID vaccines. This protocol was revised seven times in the last fiscal year! In addition, she travels to different clinics and performs in-situ MOCK codes, POCT training and Joint Commission Tracer observations, to name a few.
Currently, she is collaborating with the APeX Team, Pharmacy, Clinic leadership to help support the staff in clinics who are launching the Clinical Home Teams. She is designing a curriculum that involves teaching appropriate clinical escalation pathway, scope of practice, efficient chart review.
She is committed to making a difference for the good of the staff and to providing the best service to the patients and their families. Mandy’s dedication and commitment to excellence are unparalleled. In her three years working with ACRT, she has made so many changes that have benefitted the Ambulatory clinics, which she serves with compassion and heartfelt sincerity. She is highly deserving of this award.
