When Amanda had her days off, I would just wish she was there; she wasn't just my nurse but a friend to talk to and get me through my days.
Amanda was the best nurse I have had in my whole life. I was in antepartum for about a week and a half. I got admitted when I was 23 weeks pregnant and was air-evacuated. From day one in antepartum, she was my nurse, and I loved every moment of it. The constant checking up on me and making sure my baby and I were okay was beyond great. She was there to talk to me about everything that was going on with my pregnancy but also there for support and just made us feel so welcomed. We were in the hospital for Christmas, and she made our day so special! When Amanda had her days off, I would just wish she was there; she wasn't just my nurse but a friend to talk to and get me through my days. I ended up having my baby boy at 24 weeks pregnant. Even when I got moved to labor and delivery, she still came and checked up on me and brought me snacks, even though she didn't have to! Once I was discharged, she told us not to be strangers (we are pretty much living at the NICU now till baby boy is healthy enough to go home); the days I don't make it down to antepartum to see her, she will come to our NICU room after her shift and say hi and see my baby. She has bought me a NICU journal to help me through this uncertain time and wrote a super sweet/inspiring note on the front page! Being in the hospital for over a week in a place I didn't know and just trying to keep my baby inside of me for as long as possible, she made us feel at home and like I always had a familiar face to see and talk to about anything! I truly don't think I would have been able to keep myself from going into labor another week without a nurse like Amanda there to support me and always make sure baby boy was still okay inside of me! She gave me peace of mind and reassurance I was doing everything right for my baby and myself in my most time of need! Even after being discharged, she has still been my top favorite nurse that I have met in all of the hospital, and that's saying a lot since the NICU nurses are all amazing too. She definitely tops the cake, and I truly believe she needs to be recognized for all her hard work, dedication, and continued checking up and making sure we are both okay! It's hard to find nurses who will go out of their way to make patients feel so safe and secure in such a rocky time in this uncertain world.
