Amanda gave the family a tremendous gift by relaying these stories and one of the adult children wrote down every word.
In the year I've been at ESJH I've witnessed Amanda quietly caring for many COVID-positive patients in the ICU. She cares for the patient and their families in a very personal way. She makes each person feel like they are the most important person to her at that moment.

Recently she cared for a COVID-positive patient who was a minister. His family was devastated when they learned he was too ill to recover. After he died I, sat with the family as the chaplain on duty and Amanda joined us. I listened as Amanda recounted the stories the patient told her about each of his children and his wife. Amanda gave the family a tremendous gift by relaying these stories and one of the adult children wrote down every word. There is far more that Amanda has done but I'm sure she would never tell anyone since they are private sacred moments. ESJH is fortunate to have such a caring person as an RN in the ICU. She is a shining example of Mercy in action.
