I’m writing this not as a patient but as a loving family member. My wife has a shoulder injury, which required her first surgery in life at age 49. To say she is nervous is an understatement. I've witnessed my wife's struggle with anxiety about having the surgery for weeks, hurting... knowing she was losing sleep over it. She doesn't like others to know about her worries or fears, so Amanda was completely unaware of my wife's concerns. Upon arrival to pre-op and Amanda's (nurse) care, I witnessed the fear and worry diminish, as Amanda so beautifully and intentionally educated my wife about each step. Her ability to empathize with a patient is second to none. She talked my wife through each step of the process, and I witnessed my wife relaxing in a way she was unable to before her arrival. Most people never realize the importance of the nurse/patient relationship, but to witness this nurse in her atmosphere being the advocate, the technician, the counselor, the educator, and so much more, and seeing my wife smile with her, feeling comfortable each step of the way, is proof of the importance of that relationship. Amanda demonstrates top-level customer service. Amanda is caring, thoughtful, intelligent, insightful, and in the right profession, as she made a difference in my wife's life today, and as a result, she also made a difference in my life.
