After I received the medication and they started to set my injury, she held my hand the entire time and talked to me through the entire procedure.
It was my first time ever breaking a bone. I fell outside of my house and was transported to the hospital. I was so scared from the moment that I entered. I was in so much pain I could not stop crying. My nurse was very kind to me. She spoke with me at my bedside as people poked and prodded at my injury. She came to check on me frequently, always offering to get me anything that I needed. When it came time to fix my injury, I was shaking and feeling the pain again. My previous medication had worn off. Amanda was preparing medicine to help with my pain as the team was getting ready to fix my injury. She advocated for me as they were starting to touch and move me without having the medication. She asked them to wait until I was ready. After I received the medication and they started to set my injury, she held my hand the entire time and talked to me through the entire procedure. She brought me everything that I needed afterward: Ginger ale, saltines, and even socks when she noticed that my feet were cold. She was very gentle, considerate, and thoughtful. She could even tell how impacted I was by the medications that they gave me. Amanda had me stay in the hospital longer to make sure that I was safe and comfortable before being discharged.
